I'm not divorced (hopefully I don't need to had a "yet" to that statement) but I know lot of folks who are and I think it's great to offer the info. Divorce certainly isn't the end of the road. Throw a party, bury your ring, date like crazy, do whatever makes you happy.
I bought a Wedding Ring Coffin once my divorce was finalized. It was fun and actually pretty cathartic to stand before my closest friends and "close the lid" on my ring, my divorce, and that part of my life.
I love that wedding ring coffin. It sounds like a great idea. I would have an 'open casket'. Of course if you are not too squeamish, you could always melt down the gold and redesign a new ring.
